Values Recognition System

We have recently introduced a Values Recognition Credits and Certificates system at Mearns Academy. This system is designed to celebrate and promote our core values of Respect, Wellbeing, and Ambition, while recognising pupils who consistently demonstrate these values in their daily activities. 

How the System Works:

Each week, teachers can recognise up to two pupils per class by awarding them a Values Credit for exemplifying our values during the week. These credits are tallied, and pupils work towards achieving Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum Awards throughout the year.

Each year, in August, pupils will begin a fresh cycle of awards as they progress into their new year group. This reset aligns with their academic journey, including transitions such as selecting new subjects in S3 or entering the senior phase. 

We look forward to seeing how this initiative develops and to celebrating even more pupil achievements as we continue to embed our school values into daily life.

Upcoming Developments

We are exploring ways to enhance communication about your child’s achievements. We hope to introduce a system where, as soon as a Values Credit is awarded, parents and carers will be notified via email, with a certificate attached to celebrate the recognition. We believe this will further strengthen the partnership between school and home, allowing you to celebrate these moments with your child.
