School Captain - Isla Oag

I’m Isla, your School Captain for the 2026/2027 school year. I enjoy cycling, dancing, netball and hiking. Throughout my school career, I've taken pride in applying for every opportunity I can; including becoming a prefect, peer mentor and vice house captain. In school, I enjoy French and music and am continuing my education in these subjects this year. This year I aspire to be a role model, but also as a friend to younger peers, someone they can talk, relate and look up to. In my role, I'd like to introduce in-school tutoring, involving senior pupils helping junior pupils and creating bonds. I look forward to working with you all!

School Captain - Jack Hunter

Hi, I'm Jack an S6 pupil at Mearns Academy and I am a School captain for this year. I have enjoyed playing football for many years within and outside of school for both the school football team as well as having played for Montrose Youth Football Club for a number of years. Throughout my time at school, I have been selected for many roles throughout the school like being a Prefect, a Peer mentor and a House captain for Drumtochty in S5 as well as achieving Full Colours awards in Active Citizenship and Sport. As a School captain this year, I want to help to further promote our school values of Ambition, Well being and Respect whilst also setting a positive example to younger pupils.

Vice Captain - Rhona Broadley

I'm Rhona and I'll be one of the vice captains for this school year. I've been involved in leadership all throughout my academic career, such as perfecting and house captaining. Outside of school I enjoy swimming, the outdoors and being on the rowing team with my friends, I also enjoy playing piano, guitar and I love doing art. My favourite subjects in school are Design and Manufacture, Art and English. This year I have taken up the responsibility of being head prefect. I am excited to be focusing on the perfecting system and making sure everyone is aware of leadership opportunities within the school that can help them achieve their ambitions.

Vice Captain - Keeva Gordon

I’m keeva and i am one of the vice captains for this school year. I have been involved in the school via perfecting and and mentoring, i have also been heavily involved in our house competitions and sports days throughout my school experience. Outside of school i enjoy dancing, running, swimming and being outdoors, i love music and films and my favourite subjects are biology, history and english. This year i will be heavily involved in tutoring and mentoring, also reading schools and house events. I will be focusing on encouraging younger pupils to get involved in the school early on in their school career. I also aim to ensure your many opportunities are clear to you so you are able to take part, contribute and build bonds with seniors in the school!!

Vice Captain - William Farris

Hi, I’m William and I am one of the Vice-Captains at Mearns this year. In my free time I enjoy playing sports, mountain biking, walking, and running a small watch business. Within school I enjoy studying a range of subjects, specifically maths and physics, both of which I have taken to advanced higher level. I am a strong advocate for the opportunities available at Mearns, personally having been a peer mentor, prefect, and active schools volunteer, alongside achieving full colours in academics, active citizenship, and sport. As Vice-Captain this year I will be leading the pupil council, aiming to ensure all pupils’ ideas and opinions are heard.
