The Value Awards system is designed to celebrate and promote our core values of Respect, Wellbeing, and Ambition, while recognising pupils who consistently demonstrate these values in their daily activities.
This approach aligns with How Good is Our School? (4th Edition), which emphasises the importance of recognising and celebrating achievements to foster a positive school ethos.
“We celebrate success and achievement in all its forms.” — HGIOS4.
How the System Works:
Each week, subject teachers can recognise up to three pupils per class by awarding them a credit for exemplifying our values during the week. These credits are tallied, and pupils work towards achieving Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum Awards throughout the year.
Each year, in August, pupils will begin a fresh cycle of awards as they progress into their new year group. This reset aligns with their academic journey, including transitions such as selecting new subjects in S3 or entering the senior phase. As part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen communication with families, parents and carers will be notified by email whenever a Values Credit is awarded. Each message includes a certificate to recognise and celebrate the achievement. This initiative is now fully integrated into our practice and helps reinforce the strong partnership between school and home, allowing families to share in and celebrate their child's positive contributions. Further recognition of these achievements will be acknowledged during termly Value Award assemblies.
Upcoming Developments:
We will be exploring ways to enhance communication about your child’s achievements. We hope to introduce a system where, as soon as a Bronze, Silver, Gold and/or Platinum award is reached, parents and carers will be notified via email, with a certificate attached to celebrate the milestone.
